100 Word Review - Battle: Los Angeles

Battle LA movie posterWithout warning the earth is bombarded by an extraterrestrial onslaught. Our major cities are under siege and the only hope we have is a ragtag group of military survivors equipped with their standard issue weapons, and persevering human spirit. What does the plot of Battle: Los Angeles remind you of? If you answered “every other unoriginal alien film” you knew where I was headed with this. A drab plot, characters that leave you entirely indifferent, boring unexamined aliens, and a non-committal attempt at adopting a shaky handheld camera all lead Los Angeles into a battle this film has already lost.

I keep hearing bad things about this one, which is a shame. The trailer actually looked quite promising.

Yeah it is a shame they didn't put more effort into the plot, and developing interesting aliens because we all know Aaron Eckhart has some talent in him but it just doesn't shine too bright here.
