The setting for Snyder’s new film Sucker Punch steps into a world where anything is possible and a director could run in any direction with their film. Snyder does just that as he tells the story of a traumatized girl institutionalized and left to her imagination as she hatches a plot to escape her prison that will lead her through five fantasy worlds. An undeniably beautiful film Snyder finds too much solace in extravagant visuals as the story and characters lack any of the emotion or depth necessary to bring Sucker Punch to anything more than just another mindless action-adventure.
