Hearing a classic film is being remade is always a bit unnerving. Recreating something that was already done well is never an easy task. What about when it isn't just a film but the entire catalogue from a legendary director? This week Splendent Media announced it had purchased the rights to 50 of Kurosawa's films. The deal will allow the company to sell the rights to filmmakers interested in doing a remake. On the bright side if done properly we could wind up with more gems like Leone's “A Fistful of Dollars” which was based off Kurosawa's “Yojimbo.”
