The idea of a comedic film based around
a tragic widespread illness like cancer is a hard one to swallow.
Fortunately for the team behind 50/50 what may come off as a
lighthearted comedy in the trailers ends up packing a much more
genuine and respectable punch on screen. After discovering he has
cancer Adam (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) must break the news to his friends
and family as he begins treatment. With great performances all around
50/50 takes a devastating event and brings it to life with characters
that feel as confused and uncertain as the situation at hand calls
for.
